C&O Canal

The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is a national park that stretches for 184.5 miles along the Potomac River from Cumberland, Maryland, to Washington, D.C. The towpath is relatively flat and offers an easy terrain for hikers and bikers of all skill levels. The surface of the towpath is for the most part an even hard-packed dirt trail. The park also offers access to launching ramps for boaters, canoeists, and kayakers.
Washington County Commission on Aging Outer Loop
The Washington County Commission on Aging’s Outer Loop trail is about 1/4 mile on sidewalk and pavement around the senior center campus. It is open during and after hours. Please register in the senior center before walking so that the Commission on Aging can track how many people use the trail.
