Fort Frederick State Park
Located a short distance from the C&O Canal and Western Maryland Rail Trail, Fort Frederick State Park features a stone fort that served as Maryland’s frontier defense during the French and Indian War. The park also includes a boat launch, campsites, camp store, fishing, flat water canoeing, and a hiking trail. During open hours, the park offers and general store with food and drinks. Also located at the park is Woodmont Natural Resource Management Area, which includes opportunities for hiking, hunting, mountain biking, bird watching, and horseback riding.
