Our Rock the Run 5K started in 2015 as a way to not only celebrate the 60th Diamond Anniversary of The Hope Center at Hagerstown Rescue Mission but also as a way to bring the community together to help raise support and awareness for the homeless and hungry in our community.
We didn’t hope to just celebrate a major milestone in our community, but also, give our community a fun way to be a part of the next 60 years of The Hope Center in Hagerstown. Each year we’ve succeeded in accomplishing our goal by bringing businesses, runners, walkers, competitors, and volunteers together to have fun, share some laughs, run a few miles, and raise money for those in need. In 2021 we completed a major renovation and expansion of our food services area at The Hope Center. This newly expanded area allows us to feed more people in need in our community. While the work has completed we are still raising funds to pay for this project. Proceeds from our 5K will go towards the new kitchen, pantry, and dining room at The Hope Center!
We are encouraging our participants to have some fun with costumes and accessories and show us your pirate or princess side! We’ll be making this event a little more exciting with some pirate & princess themed touches to everything. But most importantly we just want you each to have fun because you’re supporting a great cause and doing something amazing for our community. So start talking it over with all your running friends, encourage others to join you, and then grab that eye-patch, tiara, and your running shoes for Rock the Run: Pirates vs Princess!
There will also be a Kid’s Fun Run at Fairgrounds Park starting at 8:30am.
